What chip
just got a xbox and i am wonder what chip should i get a Xenium ICE or a Smart XX v2. Which one is better?

It kind of depends on your xbox version. If you bought it new, it is most likely a 1.6. Which I would look for a 1.6 compatible chip to save yourself some extra soldering. Out of those 2, i would choose Xenium, but all chips basically do the same thing and work the same so the smartxx is equally as good.

The Xenium ICE is decent.. Has a cool little OS installed on it. It has some decent features.. I have one myself..
There is a bug though in the bios when copying over an original XBOX hard drive to a new one. I don't know if they fixed it or not. So read up on that if you decide to go that route.. But like Quall said.. They're all pretty similar when it comes down to it. Also since you have a new box its a 1.6 and you're going to need the 1.6 bios.. M8_16.. The other bios aren't compatible.. That I know of at least. |
i got a v1.4 xbox

any chip will do. I would suggest an x2.6b then, unless you want the extra features like an lcd, chip os's, etc... Those features are not really needed at all for backup purposes, but they can be kind of cool to have. The x2.6 is standard.
