+R or -R

Is one better (more accepted). so far I only have DVD+R, +R seems to work good for Movies so far i have 3 +R disks left should i buy both kinds +R and -R for different media?

Youll find that -R is more compatible with more standalone dvd players out there. Quite a few dvd players will not recognize +R media.

Agreed. The DVD-R's work in every one of my DVD players and the DVD+R's only work in the 2 $100+ DVD players not the cheap $40 ones.

If the home DVD player does not specify that it plays DVD+R disc it most likely won't, on the other hand I'm pretty sure every home DVD player made in the last couple of years will play DVD-R disc although some are a little fussy with certain types of media but if you run across one type and brand that works good in a certain player stick with it becuase the next might be screwy.
I use only DVD-R disc for movies incase I borrow my disc to a freind even though my home systems read the +R disc most everyone elses will not. I'm not sure how the +R format survived this long since the price of a -R is is usually a bit lower here in the U.S. compared to the +R, but I'm guessing it must have been that the recording speeds for the +R format seem to be a little higher on the hardware when the market decides to up the speed a little to make your DVD Burner obsolete so they tempt you to buy another one. Also I don't think it's possible to make a dual layer DVD-R from what I read sometime ago but I can't imagine why.
