DutchDemon 01-11-2004 13:29

i don't know much about the baacking up of games, but about the chip: if you boot an original, does it give the text 'playstation 2' with 'Matrix Infinity x.xx' underneath it? then its a matrix infinity (duh :P) otherwise i dont know.

as for the backing up, the other members of this forum will probably know more about that.

no its not the matrix infinity i found out, it is the duo 1

Well until a couple of days ago I did all my PS2 backing up with RecordNow Max 4.5 using Global Images. But when that failed to backup GTA San Andreas, maccarulez1 suggested I try DVD Decryter which you can get completely free of charge from http://www.dvddecrypter.com.
It's a really small file download too, and it works perfectly.
Just put your original in your DVD drive, under "Mode" do an ISO Read which will write an ISO of your disc to the HDD, then put a DVD-R into your DVD Writer and under "Mode" do an ISO Write.
(There's a point; are you using DVD-R or DVD+R? You should use DVD-R).
Put your finished backup into your PS2 and enjoy. :)

I'm not too sure why. I just know that before I started backing up my games I read all the forums to find out how people were doing it and everyone was saying to use DVD-R and not DVD+R. I think it's because DVD-R is compatible with a wider range of set-top machines, including PS2. To be honest, I've never tried a DVD+R in my PS2 but I've read in various forums that it doesn't always work.

ok

ok ill stick to the -r then :)

What media are you using?

Use Ritek G04, and use DVD Decrypter. Make sure it burns it as an .iso

Ok, well the only things I can thing of then is that you're using cheap, crappy media that doesn't work very well (I burn all my backups to Verbatim DVD-R and I swear by them 150%), or else you're burning them at too high a speed (you should burn them at the slowest speed your writer will allow; you really shouldn't burn faster than 2x).
Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

Thats untrue. You can burn as fast as your dvd burner and media combo allow. Cheap media is never a good idea.

Tyler!

if he tried everything with his burning stuff, and it's not working, then the problem is probably not with his burning. Maybe something is wrong with his chip/soldering.
Did you solder it yourself greenfly?
Did it work before?

Yeah, you beat me to it Tyler. It is wrong. Burn as fast as you possibly can, because the new high speed discs and dyes are made to perform best at these speeds. You will have problems burning slower on higher rated discs... :)
