Burnt LA Chip?
Hi,
I've managed to screw my V10 lasers real fast (a day after i modded it, neglecting to do a Romeo mod :( ). I actually never used backups for more than 30-40 secs at a time, only to test that they are indeed working. A local installer told me that other than the burnt focusing coil i most likely have a fried LA chip. 1. Is it possible to check the LA chip? Have you ever seen a system with a dead coil and a working LA chip? 2. How dangerous is it to plug new lens into a system with a burnt LA chip? would it fry my new coils or just not work? Thanks. |
well im pretty sure you know of this site.. but here it is anyways. :)
http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/laserV9.htm romeomod is just one little extra wire man. just one! might as well slap it on while putting in your chip.. its not that complicated, im not sure about v10 but on a v9 i just took a pin and popped it up, the solder was pretty weak, i didnt even need a lot of pressure. |
If you have fried your coils and the LA chip is dead, then installing a new laser would result in the new laser being blown too. If you have blown the LA, then install a new LA chip, and then do the Romeo to get your console back working. Official replacement parts aren't that expensive at all :)

both.
Thanks, I guess I'll just replace them both to be on the safe side.

No problems, but that is what you need to do :)
