Chipped!!!
Hey Dudessssss
After another dreding hour i chipped my ps2 its working perfectly its different to the other consoles i was shocked when i pulled the lid off and found the eject reset wasnt attached to the case like other versions. I also found out my consoles a v10 when i was told its a v9 meh oh well all is good :):):) I will try and take a photo of it soon and post it up soon, but i cannot find the usb cable :( |
hey seaneyb2003
haven't been here for a while hope all is good...? :) I see you've ventured into the world of DIY ps2 chipping.... i remember you saying you used to do Psx1's, how much harder is it? as I said I haven't been here for a while but i remember reading that it was a lot tougher (especially when it comes to soldering onto the vias) considering doing a few myself now as i have a bit of demand on my hands, the psx1's were easy i had no probs with them, what ya reckon should I still leave it to the pro's? what chip have you put in yer v10 then? is it still in the region of 24 wires or so? cheeeeeeers :D |
If you've done PSXs easily, it ain't much different to be honest with you. VIAs can be a b******, but plenty of flux and a good scrape with a fibreglass pencil will do the job. A great site for tutorials is http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/ps2tips.htm
PS2 V9/10 are around 18/19 pin. Hope this helps... |
hey dude,
ive done a few ps2s in the past. I didnt use a fibreglass pen i used a stanley knife and a small screwdriver to scratch it off. Works Perfectly! I got a v10 and a matrix infinity. Bo selecta! N Dude if you feel confident go for it. Modchips these days are usially around 18 wires depending what chip you go for. :) Gd luck man |
I'm not denying that works, i've used a stanley blade myself when my Fibreglass pen has ran out, but one slip with that blade and the board's f***** :(
|
depends what knife u got i used 2 work in a warehouse i got a proper gd one :D and my precision screw worked perfectly. No point wasting 5 quid on when when u can use something else :) but i would reccomend a fibreglass tho.

I tried a fiberglass pen before and must say I don’t like it at all. Well the one I have is about the size of a pencil eraser and I think it makes a bloody ugly mess and strips varnishing off all the tracks including the ones you don’t want to be soldering. With the fine tip of a box knife you can easily scrape just enough around the hole for a nice neat looking job.

Ahh glad it went well :) now dont you feel good about it after? :D
wasnt so bad was it. hehe |
