PS2 Ritek Problem
 

I bought the 100-pack Ritek G04 Silver Shiny DVD-R from www.meritline.com , I used them in my one friends ps2, his is a version 5, and it worked. Booted up w/ swap disk blue screen. Now when I played the same game on my other buddies ps2 version 3 ritek G04 wouldn't boot. When swap disk loaded had green outer screen then blue, not blue right away. And the game never finished loading, it just froze. Is this because of the DVD drives in the different version; one is newer and more compatible with wide variety of DVD's? The whole version for this post is if anyone has had this problem, I hear everyone always talking about Ritek's being the best. I have a version 4 ps2 and these are my games, are the version 3, 4 and 5 use different drives? Haven't tried on mine due to the repairs needed. Can anyone help? Thanks

ok it seems that your laser is worn if the game don't load on your system but does on your mates try jacking up the laser shadow hark i think has a good tut on how to do this also get a proper mod all those swop disks are crap and don't boot new games well as they check the toc of the game twice so even if you get it to boot it will stop half way though the game hope this helps

My friends ps2 played TDK DVD and Maxell DVD, that is the version 3. When I inserted a Ritek G04 it froze right after green then blue loading screen. My other friend who has the version 5 plays just about anything you throw at it. He played Starlogic DVD's on it, someone returned them to office max and instead of puttin them on the shelf they throw them away (so crappy). He asked to have them, hahaha. Anyway his plays just about anything w/ the swap disk slide card trick. THe first friend w/ version 3 is limited.
My ps2 is in the shop right now, VA beach www.Richpsxparts.com to be exact. Is it compatibilty problem?, cuz it doesnt really sound like laser is worn, he friend said even though its a version 3 he has only played on it about 10 times, he owns no games for it. Kinda a PC man.
I just hope my ps2 plays ritek i got a 100 of them.

Version 3s have crap lasers, hence the problems with quality media... :)

would you by chance know if version 3 laser the same as the one used in version 4? Thanks everyone for the help.

I'd try and find a V7 console off eBay - V3s are pretty worthless anyway, and V7s aren't that dear on eBay either :D
