Silent Hill 4 Hangs Due To Crack Help
 

Silent hill 4 is just freezing up when I try to remove the stones/plates/tablets off of the doors in the subway station and in the prison. Instead of giving a short line of explanation it goes directly to the blue text of the items name and then just hangs. The 1.0 cracks from Vengeance and Project Deadman both have the problem. I know it is the cracks fault because I replaced the original exe and it worked fine with the DVD. Anyone else getting the same problem? If you know a solution please let me know.

Also good to here what OS you have. Maybe it will fix out in next update (then it will be a new crack out).

Just play the game at this position with your original. Then save your game and restart the game (load your game) with crack.

I'm running Windows XP SP2.

Anybody know if its possible to make a 1:1 copy without having to use a crack?

Same problem here! Every time I try to remove a plaque, or pick some items up (such as the medalions), the game would freeeze.
And just like you if I replace the exe file with the original one the game works perfectly in those "black spots".
Yesterday i realized that if in the fixed exe I set the language in Japanese, the game won't freeze but crashes.... absolutely odd.

I have no solution, but well, at least you know you're not the only one. Besides the weirdest thing is that I know of many people for whom the patch works great... :confused:

By the way, I'm using the patch just because the trainer won't work with the original exe, is that your case too?

May someone have a solution for us!

Fortuna (and probably Asimov), what region is your game from? US, Europe? The problem your describing could be caused due to incorrect regional settings. Make sure you have your language/region set to whatever region the game was made in. (in XP, and assuming the game is from the US = Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, choose English (United States) for the first box, and the lower box as United States). Note though that the cracked exe could be based off of the European game, and it could screw up if you use it with the US release. (I've seen this happen with a number of games). You might wanna try another cracked exe just to see if it fixes the problem.

As for XP SP2, I know that the game works on my end, so I can't see that being a problem unless you have the Data Execution Protection (DEP) set to protect for all programs and services. (Default is essential programs/services only).

I just tried the new crack at gamecopyworld from genesis and it fixed the problem... Well it is likely the reason it is fixed. You should give it a go Fortuna and let us know if it fixes the problem for you.

Thanks for the tip guys! I've just tried the new file from genesis and it works just great! I guess the other one didn't work to me because my version of the game is the multilanguage one.
