My personal ps2, sometimes when I click the restart buttton it lags and then powers off (LED Red). But other times it works fine.

Any ideas?

do you have a network adapter installed?

yes...

It's a trait of the network adapter. It's perfectly normal...

I thought it was because the hard drive (if you have installed one) had to spin down before the ps2 shuts off

It used to do it to me without my Hard Disk installed...
