Downloadable Content/Patches
 

I've been on the fence about getting a mod chip for my Xbox, and I think I'm going to take the plunge in the next few days. Either that or I'm just going to buy Fable and let that be the last of my Xbox gaming experience. Anyhow, I'm curious if it is possible to download content from Live using a backup or while playing off the hd. My guess is that patching/extra content is not going to happen with games unless I have the original disc, correct? If it makes a difference, I'm planning on getting the X-chip. (Anyone think I should steer clear of this chip?)

You can't play online with a modchip, just turn it off, but some have auto turn off feature.

Also I dont think u can play games off the hdd online...

To play on live you will need to disable your mod chip, hence, you will not be able to use any backups. You will need your original discs which shouldn't be a problem as we all know that you can only make backups of games you own :cool: . You can still play with a larger hard drive installed in your xbox as long as you have locked it (which will need to be done if you want to use your xbox with your chip disabled.

And you cannot get the downloadable content from another xbox. It is xbox specific.

Could I insert the original disc, download content (say for a single player game), and play using a backup?
