SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT DC

I wonder, could I self make my own backups of an original dc game?
If I have a boot cd, don´t I need a Modchip to play backups then?
If I download an Iso and burn it to an empty cd, do I need a 80 min cd-r then?
Please answer!
