Using Black Cd-rs (Memorex) to burn PSX games

Anyone have any experience with this and know if it works? Ive been trying and I burned one copy of Einhander, but it didnt work and I can figure out if its the burning software thats messed or the cd or something else. Any infO?

If you are hoping it will work without a modchip the answer is no, Black cd-r's i have used in the past were of poor quality, better to buy verbatim data life plus.

No, of course not, I have a mod-chip, I just wanna know what the word is on these black cd-rs, in terms of using them to burn PSX games...to play obviously. (I HAVE heard that they are not good for PS2 burning)

Well if your gonna use a PSone then feel free. But like Warlock says, some of the ones he's used have been poor quality.

Anyways, psone lasers are easier to replace. But are they worth replacing, thats the question.

No no, I have a PS1, the old classic version, not the new mini-me sized one. So Im assuming it has a good laser. Thanks for the info, but no one has ever tried to burn using Black Cd-r's yet for PSX?

TylerDurden 26-08-2004 11:21

Im sure someones tried.

Im even betting itll work. What SCPH # do you have?

Tyler!

Zeppelin 26-08-2004 11:23

SCPH-9001..

also anyof you know if its ok to use the PS2's power plug and A/V plug in the Playstation 1?

TylerDurden 26-08-2004 11:30

Yeah I think that version should be ok.

And yes you can use the AV and Power Plugs for either a ps2 or ps1.

Tyler!

Ur sure right? I plugged the PS2 power cable into the PS1 last ngiht to test and stuff, and then I turned it off and went to sleep, in the morning the PS1 felt like warm/hot in and around the Power jack area. Maybe im just being too careful or something...my precious..my precious PS1... It was indeed a classic.

EDIT- Also i DID burn a game onto a balck memorex cd, and it didnt work, but then i got an emulator and that worked fine (the game worked THEN), so is it the black cd-rs or is it my burning technique? (Used Alcohol 120 1.9.2, at "Playstation" setting..

if an emu ran it then sounds like good backup/bad cd media. Like warlock said, unless u want to fraz ur laser stick to good quality cdr like verbatim datalife plus. :D

Yeah Im sure. I have so many cables and jacks all through my house. Ive used them all for ps1 and ps2. No problems with any of my systems.
