Major Internet Prob!!
 

ok guys.. major problem with my dial-up internet connection.. heres whats wronge.. i will dial it up and it will say its connected at ___ (anywhere from 24.0kbps-46.0kbps) *but normally 28.8 or 37.2* and sometimes after it connect i start up mozilla firefox and it says site cannot be found, and also my msn messenger wont sign in.. it acts like it isn't connected at all.. i have to restart to get it to work and then it works as if its normal.. anyone know whats up?

yeh or you might have messenger trying to connect on a 'Proxy Sever' as that sometimes happens to me at my mums on 56k

well if its a worm im currently updating AVG and will run it when its done updating.. as for the proxy server.. how do i fix this.. and also.. thanks for saying ul send a g-mail account if u get one ps2mad..(just didn't wanna dubble post)!!

well i had the same prob with my Broadband, turned out to be the firewall...

dont worry. Proxy on messenger is under tools, and the connections tab

ok im still having major probs.. not as bad.. most sites i cant go to.. i cant go to www.hotmail.com, www.mozilla.org, or many others.. i can go to this site tho :confused: :confused: ... and my outlook express doesn't appear to be working properly.. my msn is fine tho!!

anyone know WTF is going on?

check ur security settings, does fileforums happen to be in ur favs? i think if it is it means its trusted maybe u have the security settings of IE on only allow acces to trusted sites?

im using mozilla and mozilla firefox..
and i tried disconnecting then reconnecting and i cudn't get any sites or messenger or outlook to work!!
restarted and it all appears good now?? till the next time i connect??

have u tried using IE6 to access sites? if no luck, man it sounds like a nasty worm.

ok... i used IE 6, Mozilla, firefox and none worked.. i think i fixed it tho.. i ran AVG,AdAware6,Hijackthis,Spybot-search&destroy..and it has been working great!! ill post back if it goes gay again!! If anything bad happens like this to ur pute i suguest u use :AVG,AdAware6,Hijackthis,Spybot-search&destroy..

ok..this is really pis$ing me off.. i am thinking about just backing up all my files to a few dvd-rs and just reformating my drive!!
i am gonna start backing up!

UPDATE: formatted my hdd and am slowy reinstalling most of my files (that didn't work when i made dvd0rs) over slow dial up :mad: ..but on the good side it appears to have fixed the internet prob.. well after i found that my factory pc had 4 viruses!! AVG fixed that up after about 6 shutdowns!!

no prob, btw be sure to install zonealarm, adaware and spybot too that shall keep u safe :)

i am gonna d/l zonealarm in a couple minutes ;) .. i really like these free versions that they make!!
