Contact publishers for tech support

I've heard that if you have Daemon on you system at all some program will look at the virtual drive for the CDs, causing them to fail. So if you do run Daemon Tools, uninstall it, then reinstall Doom

Error message, PC games

Hey,

I have been having the same problems since I purchased my PC last Dec. I put the four "original" disks in my drive to load the game on my PC. It then asks me to put the play disk (disk 1) into the drive after installation is completed. An error message then pops up that reads "unable to authenticate original disk within time limit" so I then click retry to give it another shot. Then a new error message pops up that reads " Please insert the original disk instead of a backup, see www.securom/copy"". What???? I bought this game at Wal Mart! It is an original disk. I have never been so frustrated in my life! The game I am trying to play is "Knights of the Old Republic" I have purchased other games and have the same problem. I have downloaded all of the patches, called tech support for Lucas arts and HP. They have done nothing!

The specs for my computer are as follows:

Pent 4 HT 3.4 GHz
1.0 GIG RAM(PC3200)
128 MB GeForce FX 5600
250 GB Hard Drive

Everything passes requirements

I read in one of the threads here about Daemon tools? What are these? Are they programs that came with my computer? I purchased this game and I should be able to play it. I also payed an arm and a leg for this stupid computer. I expect any game I buy to play. Sorry about the rant but I am just so mad right now. If someone hear could help me I would appreciate it gladly. Theres just one thing, if u can help me explain it so I can understand, I am a little bit slow ok! Use terms I can understand please.

Thanks alot in advance!

Jeff

Well, since you're visiting no-cd/crack forums and you are having problems with the game recognizing your original discs...try the no-cd cracks!

But I agree with most people here...either you have some sort of virtual drive installed or you need to try switching around your CD drive letters.

What you're seeing here is the logical evolution of the copy protections progressing to ever more ridiculous measures until THEY own your system, not you. Complain loud to anyone (shop, distributor etc), in the meantime your best bet is what Talus told you.

Talus,

Change your CD drive letters? Remember, I ask if u guys could explain things in a way I understand. I have heard of that but I do not know how to do it. I also have a combo drive if that means anything.

What are virtual drives?

Luciel 16-08-2004 06:11

a virtual drive is like a cd drive on your hdd, you dont see it, but its there lol, so with a program u load instead of a cd, a cd image, and then it works as if it was a normal cd drive :P

Keep calling the tech support and ask for your money back.

Doom 3 Issues

It sounds like these titles may have protection against your burner....I did not have this problem....but did with prince of persia.....I used a fixed exe to correct the problem....which is bs.

If you can install.....than use exe after install...if not....than follow this.

If you follow the directions on converting to dvd....(with out the burn process)(jsut run the set-up once folder is ready)this will work for you....and now you dont have to easily use orca....cause now they have the fixed doom3.msi file available.

This has to work.....good luck.

Doom 3/KOTOR

I downloaded the fixed exe for KOTAR, It came back as a RAR file? I have never done this before, what do I do next? I can install the game(it's original copy) what steps do I take next to get the game to work?

Err, what the F**K has this got to do with the current thread?
...sigh
Download Winrar from www.rarlabs.com and unzip the files onto ur game folder replacing the origina .exe with the cracked .exe

Doom 3/KOTOR

Luciel,

The thread is not only about Doom, The person who started this thread said that his/her CD ROM could not recognize the original disk. I am having the same problem. The only difference is my game is KOTAR, not Doom 3. I figured it would be best to post my question here than start an entirely new thread about the same thing. Somebody said to use the Fixed EXE, so I ask how to do that. Should I have started a new thread for that? Na, I didn't think so.
