BF1942 No-CD Makes My PC Reboot

I tried searching for this issue and could not find any similar posts.

I have the "deluxe edition" with Road To Rome included, comes up as v1.45 after a fresh install.

I made my backup using CloneCD and it installs and runs fine. I tried using both the v1.45 and 1.619 no-cd patches (after having updated using the official patches).

The game works fine in single battle mode, but when I play campaign mode it lets me complete the first battle, but the computer completely reboots back to the POST screen, like I hit the reboot button.

I know I have good hardware every other game runs fine and I ran a burn-in test on my system. I tried different video card drivers and have completely reinstalled my O/S (Windows XP Pro) with all the latest updates.

I have a Pentium 4 3.2 with 1024MB Samsung RAM, Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 motherboard, nVidia GeForce 5600 XT 256MB.

Havent played single player in ages other than a couple minutes and I dont have the deluxe edition. But you would need to update BF to 1.6 before using the 1.6 no-cd. The road to rome is basically a mod and the bf 1.6 updates that also.

You may also want to do a mini image rip (search for mir*) of your original CD's and not bother with no-cd cracks.

so, you do NOT get this issue when NOT using the crack?

no problems if i dont use the fixed exe and leave the CD in there. In regards to ash2dust2's response, I tried the 1.45 patch after initial installation. I used the 1.619 no-cd after installing the official 1.619 patch from EA.

As far as I know, there is nothing special about deluxe edition except for it comes with road to rome. I have also tried installing just the main game without road to rome and the secret weapons demo and i still have the same problem.

I dont think it is a driver issue as I have tried numerous drivers and the game plays fine in single battle mode.

well it must be, as i have the same package and im using a crack, 1.6 and i dont have any problems

I see that Luciel has the same GPU as I do, what version of nVidia Forceware are you running?

Luciel 13-08-2004 20:01

latest, 6point something, if u buy pcgamer, its the drivers that came in the september number, wich are the latest from the website of nvida

UKbulldog 16-08-2004 10:40

Tried latest drivers from nVidia.com and i ran a burn-in test overnight with no errors, over ten hours at full load. Pretty sure I dont have a hardware or driver error.

Is everyone installing the game from the original CD's or from their backup discs? I have installed it from the backup discs cos someone lost my originals.

It always worked fine from the original discs, so maybe it's either the copied discs or the cracked exe that's causing the problem?

Yah right, and they lost your key also so thats why you only play single player. Have someone buy you another original set.

Topic closed.

actually I do play online, bitch. I have a valid CD-key. This is the whole reason why we have no-cd patches and make backups of games, so when some scratches/loses your discs, you can still play the game that you paid good money for.

You have a legal right to make backup copies of software that you have paid for.
