Need Help with Farcry DVD
 

:confused: Dear Friend
I have managed to convert a few games to DVD, such as doom3, C&C Gen, ZH, using MaSaI editor. When I came to Farcry, the game works from the hard disk, but from DVD, it keeps asking for the DVD, specially when trying ti istall music.bik. :confused:
Any help will be appreciated.

you mean it asks for the dvd when it reads the music.bic from the dvd?you have a bad copy man.if it asks for the dvd then either dvd has not this file or can't read it.

Sounds like the installer must be checking for the the next CD before continuing, you'll either have to hack the installer or you could create 5 ISO images on the DVD and mount them in daemon tools to install!

ok sorry now i understood your post.yup BB is right.it asks for another cd.

I tried to find the music.bik file on any of the 5 cds, but no luck.
I will try to redo the whole thing from scratch. But the funny thing is that when installing the game fron the folder which I created on the hard disk, no props. :confused:

sounds exactly like Doom 3.
even though the next file it needs is present it is still asking for the next disk anyway, as it is programmed to ask for the next disk at certain points during the installation.
it checks the volume label, so if your burned DVD is just called 'FARCRY' then it knows its not disk 2. for some reason it doesnt complain when installed from hard drive

BarryB is right - you need to hack the installer. is there a .MSI file on the first disk? (will be called Setup.msi or Far Cry.msi). this is what needs editing. use Orca or Masai editor (both free to download, personally i found Masai was easier to find, set up and use)

What you need to do is open the .MSI file in an editor and go to the 'Media' section. There will be a list of VolumeLabels. Change them all to the same thing (ie just FARCRY will do) and name your DVD this when you burn it.
