Problems with CloneDVD and subtitles
Hi. I need help. I am trying to back up a copy of a movie in my collection that has subtitles in a few sections where a foreign language is being spoken. After the copy is backed up, the copy does not contain the subtitles. I am using cloneDVD and Any DVd. Am I not copying this correctly? I chose the option to copy the DVD exactly to include all menus, titles, etc. Any suggestions? THANKS TONS

Make sure you have the subtitle you want to keep checked. Otherwise it will not be added.
Are you using CloneDVD2 or just old CloneDVD? Tyler! |

You are probably trying to back up a movie where English subtitles are provided for a short period on the original DVD as an aid to the viewer when certain short portions of the film contain a non-English language. Are you using the full clone function on CloneDVD or the "Clone DVD Titles" function? The latter will guarantee the elimination of the English subtitles even if you do select English subtitles in the setup. |
Problems when backing up subtitles
Thanks. I am using the old CloneDVD not CloneDVD2. I am choosing the Clone DVD including titles and menus option. Is there a particular box or something in the subtitles section that I am not checking. I am trying to do exactly what was suggested....back up a movie that has short portions with english subtitles when a foreign language is being spoken. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I am using CloneDVD2 and I tried it on a movie with these subtitle characteristics. The first time it worked in the "Full Clone" mode; the second time it didn't.
I'm afraid there is a mystery here deeper than my experience. Hope someone else has the answer. |
You guys must be doing something wrong. I have never had a problem getting subtitles with CloneDVD2. I often purchase foreign movies and have a need for subtitles so I know it works.

I think the distinction here is that the referenced subtitles are not shown for the entire movie. They are added only for a few minutes during the movie when a foreign language is being spoken. For the vast remainder of the movie there are no subtitles on the original DVD. These transient subtitles are the ones I am losing part of the time. \\ Is your experience the same, Barb? ? ? ? |
Yeah in CloneDVD2 those are sometimes called "unspecified subtitle".

That is exactly the problem I am having.....interim periods within a movie when foreign languages are spoken for a short period of time and there are no subtitles. I am using just CloneDVD, not CloneDVD 2 but did attempt to clone all aspects of the dvd exactly. It seems as though this could be a hit or miss thing? I am grateful for any advice.
