Which is better?

Which console is better? playstation2 or xbox?

Quall999 09-08-2004 17:39

To post in an the xbox section will probably only get you a biased answer.
~moved to general gaming.

Anyways, I have not touched my PS2 in almost a year, as apposed to my xbox which was yesterday. Since this is a matter of opinion, I suggest you just look at the games that are out for PS2, and then for xbox. Or play some games your friends have and see which you like better. Xbox does however have more homebrew utilities, like mediaplayers and such, but PS2 has many plus's too. I really don't think anyone can give you an answer, whether you like something more than another is entirely up to you.

On a side note, don't just start bashing systems if you post in here, or say xbox suck ps2 rocks and vice versa. If you are going to do that, then don't even bother to reply.

i like ps2 better cuz i like the controler better and most of the games i like i can get for either ps2 or xbox, but xbox has some exclusive must have titles like ninja giaden and star wars: nights of the old republick

Luciel 09-08-2004 18:02

i like my pc ^.^

JoyBoy 09-08-2004 18:20

Lets see, all the Xbox fanboys keep harping on about is 1 game, HALO. One game since the system launched? one game which was also a launch title? get a clue. From what I know about Ninja Gaiden, its not all that either.

My PS2 is better then your Xbox because:

- Gran Turismo Series (Exclusive!)
- Metal Gear Solid Series (Time Frame Exclusive!)
- Grand Theft Auto Series(Time Frame Exclusive!)
- Virtua Fighter Series (Exclusive!)
- Pro Evo Series (Was an Exclusive, now coming to a breeze block near you ;) )
- Final Fantasy Series (Will always be Exclusive, SONY own 20% of Square Enix. That NGC title was'nt a Final Fantasy game in the true sense)
- Looks like a Betamax Player

The PS2 List kinda proves why I no longer play that games much now. Too many tired old franchises. Developers need to come up with something new, and fast. ICO was supposedly mind blowing on the PS2, but it flopped hard worldwide, and now its damn near impossible to find that game other then on ebay.

Also, my dad is bigger then your dad.

Quall999 09-08-2004 18:20

yah, my pc is played more than any system in my house. Although, I like playing on systems more. They just lack games.

_LoC_ 09-08-2004 18:55

Hey...

I like my Xbox more, cuz there are cool games on Xbox that aren't on other consoles, like Halo, Halo 2 and other cool games, but ps2 isn't so bad too. :D

TylerDurden 09-08-2004 19:12

@Bounty (QSPU), I loved ICO. It gives me that warm mushy feelin inside. Its the only CD based game I have installed on my PS2 hdd.

Anyway's, as for my favorite console. I am back to my PS2 pretty much full time now. Ever since the HDD got supported Im hooked on it like an IV.

Tyler!

Luciel 09-08-2004 19:17

i really dont get it with halo, ive played all the way through, played multiplayer and im still thinking, And?

snake2 09-08-2004 19:56

the way i see it xbox only has 3 big exclusives halo ninja gaiden and star wars NOTOR now the reasons why i dont like them

HALO SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! (yes i did play it and hated it) and to tell the truth i dont see what sets it apart from any other fps its the same as every other fps

star wars KOTOR has no replay value

ninja gaiden was great and really the only xbox exclusive worth playing

and the only reason im gettin doom3 for the xbox is cuz it lags on my pc

Luciel 09-08-2004 20:08

as far as im concerned SW: Kotor is on pc, and KOTOR 2 is on its way

Quall999 10-08-2004 15:28

hmm, xbox does have some good titles, don't sell it short. It may not have as much hot sellers as others, but that doesn't mean they are terrible. I'm not sure if RB6: black arrow is out for PS2 yet, but that is a pretty good game as I am playing it now. Fable will probably be a descent RPG when it is released, so I guess you can look forward to that. Kotor.. Well, marrowind probably sold more. And as someone that owned and played the game all the way through, it hasn't much replay value, just twice through, good and bad. If you like online play, then I would like to say that XBL is awsome. The downside is that you need cable and has a 6.50/month or 50/year (USD) fee. It offers real time voice chat, buddy lists, and content download for some games (like new maps or ingame features), as an additional feature to online play.

If you haven't got a decent PC, Doom3 will be out for xbox, playable at a locked 30fps limit. So if you have anything less then a 9600xt, this could be a way for you to play it without looking bad at slow frames.

Ps2_MaD 15-08-2004 19:00

ps2 hands down, but they only thing I want on ym ps2 thats on the xbox is the game saves to the hdd. That is a great feature.

Most xbox games are also out on ps2/pc so I can just play them all then, but the controller is quite gud

crazygamelover 16-08-2004 02:49

Well now what have i stumbled into here. :p
Since you already have a PC, we wont discuss that one...... :D

Being the CraZyGaMeloVer I am, I have not limited myself to just one console opinion cause those so called "Exclusives" are sometimes great games. Although this is definitely extreme in recommendations,
I recommend starting with the PS2 only because it has so many great games and more to chose from than the other consoles. (this one will keep you busy for a while, collecting games)

Then invest in the Xbox as it does have a great many exclusive games that simply must be played if youre an extreme gamer like myself.

Then go for a Gamecube as a 3rd choice cause its ok but very limited as nintendo fell behind on the game production aspect.

PS1, Sega Dreamcast, Atari, and the other consoles from years past are pretty much left in the past but they did have some fun games as well.

Sometimes you can find a good deal on a game in garage sales and by not limiting yourself as a gamer, you can always take advantage of those $5 to $20 used oldies, especially since most new games are rediculously expesive. Not to mention to the ability to play them, regardless of what type console is needed to play them.

TRICHOMEZ 16-08-2004 17:16

haha

I have been playing consoles since they were invented....that's right...b4 atari 2600,"oddessy".

Since 1998, I will only play pc games....not to say I don't play console games at friends or work or whatever....still love all games.

The pc will always be generations ahead of the console market; till microsoft finally, and it looks like their getting close: to making a console compatible with the pc.

They are working on game pads now....actually, their pretty much done.
"That is compatible with both, the x-box and pc."

Microsoft has already released a dev platform (xsn or whatever it was) to the pc market.

Pc players WILL be playing x-box players soon..... I hope in crap games like halo too.....so we can end the mouse v.s analog pad debate.

What this all boils down to, get them all.....if you can, if not......get a pc.

Cause soon ........everything is going to be intergraded into a single console...that can do it all on your television set......but, it will be compatible with your pc.

The x-box is a better system ...hardware wise....and it's so much so....that you should not even think of the ps2.

You should wait for the next consoles to come out though really.

Trust this newz............it'z realllllll!:) p.s I just saw espn 2004 on ps2.....omg, the swami highlights are still pictures....when the x-box....shows actual ingame footage being played....real highlights of all the td's and whatever. Don't do it....ea and other big games are on the x-box wagon now.....it's only time.......trust me!
