starforce 3 oddities
Well with several methods it is possible to get nearly perfect copies
of a starforce protected disk...BUT i noticed that after running these copies 1-2 times successfully they start to fail after a short while (2-3 game starts) ...all of a sudden the routine will not pass like it did before..as if it nuked the whole thing. Now how does this work... my guess is that the driver does far more sophisticated things than one would imagine...maybe it writes info to your hd that you cant trace and cant remove ..but where does it get the info that a copy that ran 1 hour before flawlessly now is not legit anymore... firewall doesnt report any access that would for instance point to a blacklist update or anything... the starforceclean tool doesnt help either ...after removing and reinstalling the driver it still doesnt like the cd it used to run from previously. Weird huh ? |
It's also weird that one week ago my installed Mafia runed perfectly without a CD but now the 'CRACKED' Mafia wants CD1. fortunately for me i have copies of all 3 CDs anyone who can figure this problem's solution deserves a nobell prizehttp://www.fileforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Fade
it may be a added protection scheme called FADE its supposed to degrade the game over time on NON original CD's ... Don't feel to bad I can't even play a game that is original with SF 3 on it...
|
I think that it just has to do with the disc be sure you wont scratch them coz sf3 is verry sensetive if there a little scratch on the disc then it won't work anymore. use media with an very good dye.

Fade?!
Fade is a protection based on serial check developed by codemasters and sold to macrovision a few days ago. Mafia for sure dont have fade neither will SF3 ever have when its not a Codemasters Game.
|
Maybe the StarForce DRIVERS are checking the CDs differently each time you launch the game. This way, sometimes it would pass, and sometimes it would not pass.

SF3 drivers
well with a mounted image its always a task of background processes runing and what u do during the sf3 cd check ... as the mds is a very sensitive datafile and sf3 a deep checking protection u shouldnt even use ur mouse during the check.
