Just a quick thread to let u know divineo have stoped selling ps2 modchips

sounds like Sony is on the warpath. It wont be long before they stop all of the sites from selling them.
I wonder if this is the beginning of a new era in time where the GCWsite will have to stop mentioning modchips as well for the sake of keeping the site up and running. I sure hope not but it would seem that things are not looking too good for all of those involved with the sales. As Sony wins more cases prohibiting the sales and use of modchips, eventually it will affect things here too. Just a wild guess but who knows what will happen.

many stores have stopped selling modchips. This has happend within the last week! looks like modchiping will become something of the past for playstation.

If they want to stop modchipping MAKE GAMES CHEAPER :p and less prone to get damaged.

No :p about it, thats a very good point but do you really think they give a crap about our points. :D I mean really it would be nice to pick up some games for about 5 to 10 bucks or :rolleyes: even 20 for the newest ones but :eek: 50 is a bit out there even though I always pay it for the newest greatest. :(

yea i would pay £30 quid for a new game. I was playing spiderman 2 yesturday and its v good so i wouldnt mind paying that for that game or even £30 for the new gta like i already have :D (preorderd) but still there out of order trying to con us when it dont cost much to make. And what makes it worse is VAT!!!!

You should do a search on my Spiderman2 review. It is an awesome game. I rented it for xbox and beat it in 2 days. Now I want to buy it. It would be nice for those game prices to drop a tad. Wishfull but doubtfull. As for GTA, theres another soon to be great hit. Maybe the prices will go down a little once all of this other chip rampage crap is over. The consoles dropped in price so why not the games too. :D

Well if you ever visited the uk you will know how much petrol cost yea.....

well the public are boycoting the big oil companys such as esso and bp. So they will lower the prices to other cometators and then other fuel stations like tesco and asda so on will lower till its a good price.......And its working!

Yeah if the shops stops the sells all in all i bet u there will be mod chip bootleggers selling them on fourm sites and such so i dout u will see the end of the mod chip and ps3 is comeing soon maybe this is why sony is trying to stop the modding so there ps3 will have high $ game prices/sells and the system will be unvialated with the mod chip installed.

What if they make the chips reflashable, more or so like the xbox? All xbox modchips come with bios that are meant to run linux, which don't even boot original xbox games. It contains no MS code, or even software to bypass securities. It also, however, allows you to flash the chip with another set of bios in case a new linux bios is released. This makes the chips completely legal to sell, since they don't do anything to copy protections. People then find the hacked xbox bios on the net and flash it themselves.

Could playstation chip creators do something the same? I mean, if not a legal set of bios, just blank? Then, sony argueing saying that the chip can be modified to play backups, won't hold up to well, since anything can be modified to do something that it's not supposed to do. It's like a person buying a cable box, then modding it to become a blackbox. A cable company can't stop cable box venders from selling them because it can be modified to get free cable.
