Need Opinion about a burned PS2
I have a friend that tried installing a no solder chip on his PS2. He told me that when he turned it on, he pressed eject 3 times, it shut off and never turned on again. I want to buy it off of him for $30. Do you think that it can be fixed? My intentions are to get it fixed if it is not over $40. If not use it to practice soldering before I try to install a matrix infinity on my new v9 ps2. What do you guys think? I'm sure he has removed the chip to see if it worked but I havn't asked him. I know that its not currently working. Thanks.

I'd just get a new one to be honest. He may have blown the PS1 fuse, but there are a whole load of reasons as to why the console doesn't boot up. It can be a dodgy subject. Just my opinion... :)

I have a new PS2. I just want it to practice on this one before I mod mine. But if I can get it fixed really cheap it would be better. I want to know the possibilities of it being fried or just a fuse.

did he remove the no solder mod and retry the console?

Yes but the PS2 does not turn on.

There's not much to a no-solder mod, i have never known them to burn up a console, not that it cant happen. He probably damaged the ribbon cable. if you can get it for a reasonable price i say go for it.

I would still buy it for $30 bucks :)

...and if it is knackered, just take out all the good bit and sell them :D

Where can I sell the parts. I want to see how much I can get for the parts incase I can't use it or get it fixed cheap. Im trying to get it for $20 just the console but he wants $30 for just the console.

I'm getting it for $25 with all cables except controller. I'll let you guys know if I get it fixed. Thanks.
