PAL Headaches
I know it's because we Americans have to do everything differently from the rest of the world, including our video displays, but PAL mode games which refuse to display on my ps2 are really getting me steamed! The burned image of the game boots just fine in the ps2 - that's not the problem - the problem of course is it DISPLAYS in PAL mode (flip, flip, flip - no vertical hold on today's tv's) and is essentially useless at that point.. And why I don't know, but the # of PAL games available for downloading on the 'net outnumbers ntsc (USA) games about 10:1. I've tried 'patching' the image file with 2 utilites which are supposed to correct this problem: Pal4u, and "ADR" - neither of them work, period. I need some help here guys! I know there must be other utlities out there which will... Can anybody please help me out with this? I at least want to patch one title: "Gradius". This is one of my all-time favorite arcade games, I can't find a copy at any store, and I REALLY am dying to play it! (If you're wondering why I downloaded it to begin with since it's PAL, it's because the NUMBSKULL who seeded it didn't say what display mode it was... not the first time either). Also, if there simply is no such thing as a universal patcher software wise, what about hardware? I know there are a few (very expensive) monitors which will switch between the 50hz PAL and 60hz NTSC displays, (primarily intended for watching PAL DVD's) but this is going a little far... If anyone can help - i'll be in your debt! By all means feel free to email me on this if u wish. Thanks!
