Finnally got a PS2 (v1), whats a good mod solution for it?
Preferably, one that is also able to play PS1 backups.

Holly crap man! You finally got a PS2 and the best you could do is a V1????!!!!
The V1 is very hard to mod, and has a crappy laser. But if you must have a suggestion....Duo or Duo2, Apple Pro or Apple 3, (magic V only supports V5 and newer consoles, guess they figured everyone knows the V4 and earlier are sh**y and didn’t work them into the code) or if you want to go high end look at the Infinity. |
It wasn't my call dude, I bought it preowned at EB, it was boxed, so it was at random that I got a v1.
Anyhow, thanks for the info, I'll be on the look out for those chips. |

Very true Sped...
@ Kyusaku Unlucky, unlucky, unlucky. :) Does it read discs OK? Best thing is to go to Sped's page and do the laser check thing. It's worth seeing if it's worth modding first... |

A good mod solution would be to sell it on again and get a second hand version 7 and mod that. ;)

It works good so far (I bought some original games), anyway, I do have a 90-day warranty, so if it fcks up in that time, I'll ask for an exchange... of course, I wasnt thinking about modding it anytime soon, because of that.
As for the laser test, would you mind giving me a link to Sped's page? |
