How to tell a version 10.

Hi, Hi there. Just a quicky. Is there any way to tell a version 10 without actually opening the box and checking out what version dvd driver is in the firmware?

Was lookin at pickin up an Aqua ps2. R all of these version 10's?

Thanx in adavance :p

I'm not sure how it is in the UK but here in the US V9's have a date code of 3B, 3C, and even 4A. The V10's have a date code of 3D. But like I said this might not mean a thing in the UK.

yes u can find out heres the info :)

Versions 10
8 Screws & Electrical Hazard Warning. Model number SCPH 50003
DVD firmwire version is 3.02 instead of 3.00

lufcfan 28-06-2004 03:17

Yeah but he wants to do it without opening the box...

seaneyb2003 28-06-2004 03:19

that is without opening it.

lufcfan 28-06-2004 03:24

Yeah but how's he gonna know what the CD/DVD Driver version is???

seaneyb2003 28-06-2004 03:27

oh lufc tut tut

when you load ur ps2 with no disks it goes to the browser menu. On the bottom right it will have something like console info or version or something like that anyway i cant remember and it will tell u there.

lufcfan 28-06-2004 03:30

No no, I knew that one, what I'm saying, and maybe I didn't make it too clear, but he has to open the box to find that out... :)

You should know me better than that

LOL!! :D

k. Wasn't there something about the packaging as well. Like the version 9 comes in polystyrene and the version 10 comes in cradboard inserts or sumfing similar?

Thanx for replies so far!

Am also lookin at installin a matrix infinity rather than an M2 v2. Is this a wise move in yr opinion?

spedmetal 29-06-2004 01:37

Once again I'm not sure if this is true in the UK, but yeah, in the US V9's are packaged in Styrofoam while V10's are packaged in card board.

As to the Infinity vs. M2, go with the Infinity you will be very happy. The Infinity is quickly becoming my favorite chip to install in ALL versions of the PS2.

I updated from the Apple Pro to the Infinity. Best chip i ever installed!! Give it a try Ottoman, you will be glad you did.
