original IL2 Sturmovik will not play
This is the second UbiSoft game I've had do this:
I get one splash screen and the game drops back to the desktop. Since this is the retail version (not a copy or warez), I am assuming it checked for Alcohol 120 or it just doesn't like my CD drives. XIII did the same thing on another machine. I can't find a no-CD patch for the latest version of IL2-Sturmovik (this is version 1.2; the patch is called il2upgrade_1.2.exe). This is NOT the Forgotten Battles add-on or Ace add-on. It's just the first retail release. Anyone know how to get this running, or do I have to reinstall Windows without Alcohol 120? (Even that may not help?) |
OK...tried to add this to the first post, but I couldn't edit?
Anyway, I just got the game to work. I used an older no-CD patch: IL2 Sturmovik v1.03a [ENGLISH] No-CD/Fixed EXE. Game started right up. If it weren't for GameCopyWorld, I would be so screwed. And angry. You people are a godsend. |
correction, Devilsend :D

Perhaps . . . . All I know is that GameCopyWorld kept me from paying $80 for a pair of plastic coasters.
This morning, I went to install FarCry. I got a knot in my stomach when I saw the UbiSoft logo on the CDs. Fortunately, the game runs just fine. Whatever was done to XIII and IL2 Sturmovik was apparently not done to FarCry. |
well glad u got it all working m8

IL2-Sturmovik is protected with SafeDisc 2.8 if I'm not misstaking me. It maybe is upgraded with SafeDisc 3.10 in the latest expanstion pack.
FarCry is protected with SafeDisc 3.10 XIII (13) is protected with Tagé. If IL2 is protected with SafeDisc 2.8 IT dosen't have blacklist check. The blacklist check was "installed" in SafeDisc 2.9 and more developed in SafeDisc 3. |
