WORKAROUND for NO-CD play with Race Driver 2
 

This is done with an Alcohol 120% image of the DVD, done with an in-house Network.

This is a good method for LAN parties as well.


Step 2: Send the image file over to a "ANOTHER COMPUTER (computer 2)" on the network and stored through a shared folder...

Step 3: Hop back on your "GAMING COMPUTER (computer 1)" and open up Daemon Tools (i'm running version 3.46)

Step 4: Once Daemon Tools is open, go mount a image as usual, and direct it to your "shared folder" on computer 2. I went through the "NETWORK NEIGHBOURHOOD" folder

Step 5: Once inside that folder, mount the .MDS file.

Step 6: After I did this, go about the installation process

Step 7: After the game is done installing, it should say it needs to REBOOT to install it's hidden device drivers. Reboot, make sure the image is still loaded up, enter the serial, and start up the game.

Since then, the game has worked perfectly for me.

The only thing now, is that I can't seem to get it working with the 1.2 Patch. Hopefully someone here will get that.

I haven't tried, but it may work on one computer if you share the folder the image is in, and load it through your network neighbourhood.

It might work but what u are doing is illegal (sharing one copy for 2 or more computers) so most prob thread closed.

Since when is playing on a homelan with 1 copy of game illegal? :rolleyes:

EDIT : I feel like I have to tell you guy's...
I think it should be an improvement for the general agressive attitude on the forums, if users leave the mods to do their job and tell people if they do something wrong or take proper action.
If users want to help out the mods, they can always report a post to a mod. ;)

I hear you, but its so fun to bitchslap around the pirates and the forum rule breakers. Sorta like a feeding frenzy, body parts flying everywhere. They take a crap here without reading(and following) forum rules, they get a dishload of crap back. The environment is the most anti-pirate you can get for a crack site. GCW has stayed up and running for over 5 years because of it.

Long, long time ago, some games use to allow "multi-player installs" so people could LAN off 1 game CD. All current games require an original copy to be installed on each machine. Its a shame that they dont allow that anymore.

Ill bill if u read licenses that came with games (and weve had this discussion b4 in some other thread) if you want to play on lan you are subjected to buy a copy per computer (not that anyone would and that includes me) but since its the rules of this and i got told off for commenting on that, id just though id mention.
