Games On Cd Backed Up On Dvd

HELP PLEEEEASE !!!!

See I have some games that have multiple cd's with ..

When I run the installer, the games asks for the first disk,
then 2 , then 3 , then 4 th .. etc ..

But the Installer's looking for the LABEL name of the disk,
even though all the files are on the same DVD after I copied them all over
in their respective folders and location.

How do I make the installer not to look for Label 2 , Label 3 , Label 4 etc.
So I can backup my favorites game on a DVD and not have to worry about putting 5 disks every time I install a game and so I can do the dishes in the mean time.

Can Someone Help me please .. thanks !! ..

making dvd backups of games

dude you cant be that dumb
havent you heard of *.isos Hdd Images you can mount !!!!!!!!
all you do is make the isos of the game cd 1 2 3 4 and then add them to the dvd as isos use clone cd alcohol or nero to load the image and install and play pretty simple!!!!

Games On Cd Backed Up On Dvd

Yeah well ,

I'm not that dumb , I did that with WinIso .. I added the files to the first ISO.

For alot of games IE : Unreal 2k4 , Splinter Cell 2 , Thief 3 ... etc ..
This technique will work !!!

But when I try to do it on IE: True Crime , Manhunt , TigerWoods 2k4 ..
this technique won't work .. Cuz The Installer's not looking @ the Files on the CD but the Actual CD VOLUME LABEL... And it keeps buging me for the VOLUME LABEL 2 or 3 during the install even though all the files are on the ISO ..

What I'm trying to achieve is to get those kind of games to work on a single DVD ..

Thanks .. Anyone else can help me ?

Make ISOs of all CDs. Mount all the ISOs. Tell the game to look to the correct drive letter when it asks for the next CD. That should satisfy the label requirement.

Yup this makes sense .. but .. not what I want to do ..

I want to be able to install without having to mount anything ..

I want an Install DVD disk ..

i'm sorry, but this only works with install shield installation programme.
i haven't seen any custom made setup programme that is 'smart enough' to recognise that all files are on the same dvd

Maybe you would enjoy by visiting CdSTeam
That web site is in spanish, but right now, it is the only one that manage installation "fixing".
Some latest games such Far cry or True crime need to modify a file (a .msi to be more accurate) in order to work the installation from a DVD.
Maybe you will need to translate with Babelfih if u want to learn...hehehe.

TIP: Different image onto a DVD is a waste of time. It is better to make a real DVD that works like original...install and play.

Good luck!

Ok, I was readin thu the post and replys there, and i came up with this.
It seems like everyone was on the right track but my synaptic mis-fireings took me in the direction that u wanted to actully BACK-UP your games
Keepin in mind that you are using either GameXcopy or Alcohol.... (bc both make an EXACT copy, copy-protection and all. I prefer Xcopy but im byass :))

Now, Xcopy makes Disk Images of all your game cd's on your HD with the specific titles
When Xcpy "clones" the game it gives the disk the same disk ID which is important in multi-disk games/programs installments

Now that you have "cloned" all of the disks for a specific game, simple copy them to a DVD, not burn, bc that says that you r tryin to make a cd of the image. You jsut want to make a disk with all the "cloned" images on it for archival purposes.

Ok, with me so far, man I am maken this sound soooo much more complex than it sounds in my head :)

Alrighty then, another side feature of GameXcopy is that it allows u to Mount 4 Virtul Drives. I know that there r programs which allow u to have more VR mounts but I use Xcpy to do it all.

Simple insert ure archived DVD with ure Back-up "clones" , copy them to ure HD, mount them , and install

Back ups r safe, Org's r safe, games installed, and ure happy again
I hope this helps and works for u

Well, it is good to hear that not only spanish guys are getting outthere, hehehehe.
We have been "fixing" every type of installation for two years, but it seems that now we are recognized. In the same page i give you, we post in the forum zone the way to proceed.

I must say we uploaded the modified .msi file cause some spanish people did not recognized our research and thinks everyone could do that. Actually, thats true, but someone must begin the way, and we did. Thats the reason we began to upload such files.

For two years we have been teaching how to proceed in the forum for many installation and game fixing. You must search.
We covered protections like CDFreaks does and some more about "conflict games".

This "team" was born cause i have been learnig for 6 years and no one teached me, so i was sad there weren't anyone could share its knowledges. There werent a good level spanish comunity, so i decided to begin with this. Maybe in the future we could translate into english in order to make it more accesible to everyone. By now it's just in spanish, so sorry, will need to translate.
In a near future, commercial protections will be covered for the public , but thats not important now.

If you want to learn how to proceed with Orca ( thats the name of the .msi file editor (present now on the p2p net)) i recomend u to look for the post "Teenage mutant ninja turtles" in the "Juegos conflictivos" section.
Thats the last tuto i did, and we improved the method quite a lot.

Good luck!

TIP: Not every installation on the market have a .msi file ( just only that ones based on the windows installer engine). Far cry, Teenage mutant ninja turtles, True crime and some more games are just examples of .msi "patching", but there is another installation files out there, like the native installshield system, or home made ones like the Vietcong or Warcraft ones. For ever game must be applied different methods. Thats what we teach to do and to recognize.

Doesn't work

Morglum007 your fixed msi that I downloaded doesn't work with the uk version, can you tell me what to edit using orca.exe please...

Morglum007 03-07-2004 16:18

1.- Download ORCA.msi program from same location.
2.- Install it
3.- Copy the .msi file from your game into your HD
4.- Remove "read only" attributes from such file (right click and properties...)
5.- Open ORCA and load your .msi.
6.- Look for the "media" section at your left
7.- Change Label name from different CD to just one, and backup all the files using such label.
8.- Done, install and play.

TIP: Thats the only "tutorial" available from me into english. Original is in spanish.

Good luck!

You can also use Total Commander and a plugin for editing MSI files too!

Also, for True Crime, I think you can delete the Volume Labels entirely from the MEDIA file, that way your DVD can be called what you like! But test on a re-writeable DVD first :)
