Any Hope of a Generic Echelon intro remover?

I was just wondering if any of you clever types out there could make this possible?

there are a hell of alot of people who don't know the 1st thing about hex editors and making selfboots even with tutorials etc...

could it be possible to load a cdi/image and to Patch/Remove without having to extract the ip.bin and make a selfboot/new image?

i think this would be one hell of a asset for all concerned if you could just load and patch/Remove the Echelon intro without any of the above mentioned methods.

just a thought

all the best
Chris

Only "simple" code can be easily removed (Pen Pen Trilcelon for example).
Some of the other intros are quite simple to remove (Who wants to be a millionnaire, Golf Shiyouyo 2), and the other are really difficult (I still haven't found how they're compressed).

Anyway, it would really be a pain in the *ss to make a generic patcher.
It's much more simplier to remake a selfboot CD !
And people who don't even manage to follow instructions shouldn't bother about removing intros from really GREAT groups who deserve at least an intro (we wouldn't be here without them).

I think the only reason Chris wants to remove the intro is for the emulator Chanka. Unfortunately at the moment the emulator has a hiccup when running games with Echelon intros - as such the removal of them would help with running games and setting up a proper compatability list.

I understand your point though.

also, on some games with intros, you cant use gameshark codes with it.

I agree with You hrb2k. But You can use codes on this games but they not working (Tennis 2k2, Bomberman Online, NHL 2k2 ?, Conflict Zone etc.)

But....anybody tested games with ech intro on non-selfboot?
Binhack (dos) cant patch this bins to lba 0, maybe other apps can (like binpatch).

hrb2k 16-06-2004 12:04

thats because most echelon intro'd 1st_read.bins are compressed. if you know the lba hex value of the bin and you open it in a hex editor, searching CD001, the lba reference wont match the hex code of the lba because of compression. so if you binhack it anyway, you're prolly change something else, too.

and as you can see in this thread, and many other forums too, people have tried and failed with the emulator to get the game to work so the methods at the moment such as trying to extract Ip.bin and remove and then make a new self boot just isnt working.

so maybe we can look forward to individual Patches at some point that just remove for a specific game and get them working ? :)

All we need to do:
Simple - get the oryginals gdr and rip only 1st_read's from this games.
This is the easier way.

Yes, and crack them (I removed intro from Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire, but it won't boot, just like Border Down).
