Backups play fine for a week then Die??
Hi,
bit of a funny one this. I have made 2 backups recently using my 107 with latest version of NERO 6, using Datasafe Ritek Disc burning at 2 X. I make an image first and then burn to a -r which is no problem boot it in my Messiah Powered PS2 and plays fine. But then a week later a boot the game again its slow and choppy. But if i use the original it plays fine. now do i think its the discs im using, or maybe im using NERO or what. I use the same discs for Movies and they are fine. Any help would be much appreciated Dal |
No discs your are good, but I had a problem like this with my Rainbow 6 3. Burned at 2x on Ritek dyed media, and after a week or so, things would go wrong. I reburned twice and the same thing happened. Then, I just burned again at 1x and the same disc has been fine ever since. Strange, as it hasn't happen before or since...
Try at 1x and they'll be fine. |
This may sound a little strange, but I had a couple of games do that as well. The Suffering was one of them, as well as MX Unleashed. The Suffering never did work after about a week, but MX Unleashed worked again after I washed it with dish soap and water and made sure I got all the junk off of it.
For some reason, some DVD's have this nasty ass film or something on them, that attracts dust and lint to them like none other. Wash them with a dish soap and make sure you get them washed off, dry on a soft towel, and they may work again. Take note I said MAY. It doesn't always work, and it's not always the case, but give it a try! |
Thats foe the info guys, i have looked at the disc are there as clean as the day i took them off the spindal.
Its nice to know im not the only one having these problems, something i never had when burner CDR backups using CLONE CD and Verbatim media. I also have some Tango Ritek over prints and may use one of them today and burn at 1x and see what happens. Shall i stick with NERO then or maybe look at buying Alocohol 120% for making PS2 DVD -R backups?? Thanks again Dal |
I'd try Alcohol - it's a great piece of software...

Hi Mate,
Thanks for the info i will take a look at that then... See if i can get an Eval version first before i part with my cash Dal |
Good plan, hope you solve it eventually. Keep us posted... ;)

Take a look at DVD Decrypter as well. I know it gets a lot of mixed reviews from guys on here, but I can vouch that it's great.
Between me and my two friends, we have about 100 working back ups... Only had one instance of trouble. Plus, DVD Decrypter is free. |

...and I'd purchase 4.5 over 6/DX ;)

I use DVD decryptor to RIP REGION 1 movies and your right its great. Never occured to me that i could use it to make ps2 backups.
I have just noticed that a copy of record now came with my Dell PC and never even looked at it, as i installed NERO as soon as i fitted my DVD Writer so i will have a look. Dal p.s. the verison i have is record now v 6.5.3 is that anygood? |
yea there all good matie :)

Personally i think it's either a media problem or a prob with the ps2.
The fact that they're loading in the first place suggests that the media is ok but maybe not good enough for your ps2. Do a backup of one of your games using DVD Decryptor, Verify the backup after burning then try it in the ps2. If she's a bitch and acting up then upgrade your media to Ritek or Verbatim. |

I agree its proberly my ps2 its 3 years old and been booting backups since i first got it and its now on its second gen modchip. So maybe a new laser is in order. Its had a pretty good inings. Dal |
It's definately not the media - I have about 50 backups on those Datasafe/Ritek discs. I think it's definately a PS2 problem - particularly if it's 3 y.o.
