Ver. 1.6 for a newbie..
 

What am I looking for to tell if my XBOX is a 1.6. I just bought it from Wal-Mart today, and need to get things set up to mod. I read to look for something #4 or something, but the picture showing what is was was broken, and I can't figure out what I'm looking for.

You have to open your xbox and take out the HDD and DVD-rom so you can see the mobo. Here is the easiest guide:

v1.6 use the "focus" chip.

I seriously have no idea how to take them apart, so that's going to be problem. Plus, if it's a 1.6, I want to sell it.

I can tell you this. The manufacturer's date is November of '03. Does that make it a 1.5 or lower? the Ver. 1.6 just came out, so the date would be sooner, right?

alright go to http://www.teamxecuter.com/x23b_lite_wires.htm and follow the first three instructions that should tell you exatelly how to open your xbox

if it is 03, it is not a 1.6 and can easily be modded the same way as all the other versions, with the x2 chip (one point is moved)

I'm willing to bet its a v1.5. Could be a v1.4 also. But my guess is v1.5 since they were making v1.5s than and than went back to the v1.4s in the first 1/4th of 2004.
