v10 problems
 

i modded a friends v10 with a magic 5k6 chip it worked for about 2 months. now it won't read any disc. so pulled out the chip and it still won't read any thing it says disc read error on everything.
the laser lights and moves but doesn't look focused (kinda blob like). maybe i blew out the focus fuse or disc controller chip? any thoughts and or help would be greatly appreciated.

Try recalibrating the laser...

It sounds like the v9, v10 syndrome. Do a search, you will find more info.

have a read of ultimate info sticky - LA6/BA58 Driver Chip Behaviour. Although it refers to version 9 ps2 sounds very similar. If yr version 10 laser needs recalibrating then bin and get a new one. any progress you do make will be short lived.

If the ps2 stay on "browser display" your LA is die...(you haven't done the romeo safe mod!)
