which messiah 2 chips need to get that track cut....

i installed a messiah 2 modchip in my version 7 ps2 and i know i did a good job. I read the guide for travelsooting the install guide all the way in the bottom. In the bottom it says that some messiah 2 modchips are difective and that to fix the problem you need to cut the track in the bottom of the chip. It says that these messiah's are the version 245 and below and i have a 243. Do you guys think i should cut that track or do you guys know where i can find a list of the messiah 2 versions that are defective?
thanks in advance!

Messiah 2 appears dead (pcb fault)

If you are certain your install is good yet the Messiah 2 appears dead, then you might have a Messiah 2 from the Actel batch 245 (or earlier); the Messiah 2pcbs have an error whereby a diode that regulates input voltage for the Actel chip is shorted and thus ineffective. Some Actel chip batches (particularly 245 written on the chip) work tightly within a spec 2.6v to 3.0v and hence the Messiah 2 will not function.

The required fix is to be found at cutting a track or drilling out a via as shown in the photograph.

attached is a clip from the guide with a diagram showing the fix.

how deep into the track do i have to cut??

spedmetal 23-05-2004 17:18

The tracks on PCB's are paper thin. It shouldnt take much.

send it to a pro to fix. where r u?

batistuta7 24-05-2004 11:14

i'm in buffalo new york, but i just ordered a duo chip cause i herd it's better. I also installed a magic 3.1 but it did not work well and the messiah just did not work at all. After i install the duo chip, i'll find out what's wrong with it. However i think it might be my lens that needs to be recabalated.

seaneyb2003 24-05-2004 14:13

If not try sriping the console of all wires and buy some new kynar maybe its broken somewhere bit dumbass thing 2 say, could happen though

batistuta7 24-05-2004 14:43

i'm sure my installation is good, but i'll take another look when i install the duo chip.
Thanks for all your support man!;)
