Xbox versions

Hi,

I just bought an xbox and am a complete newbie in these matters. I only found someone who could install a duox for me, but this modchip doesn't support the version 1.6. So I just want to make sure what version I have before opening my xbox (hence, not be able to return it).

The one I bought is the special (green) editon that comes with Crimson Skies and Project Gotham 2. And from what I've learn from AXmichigan in another post that "Xboxes with a manufacture date of 2004-03-22 are v1.6. 2004-03-11 are still v1.4".

My serial number ends with 40805. I know that it was made in China in 2004, but I'm not quite sure if it was made before 2004-03-11 or not. Please help me. Thanks

Enishi

Im not sure if they are still offering money for those v1.6's. If so then you might as well open it and find out, because either way your in the good.

I've just found out that the manufacturing date of my xbox is 2004-02-17. Does it tell which version is it?

Well that's my only problem. I can't open it because I won't be able to return it if it is indeed a 1.6 (I can't find a person who could mod it in my area). If it can help, I think I have a Philips dvd drive. Does it tell anything?

If you’re XBox was made in February your cool. It won't be a v1.6.

Most likely a v1.4 but could possibly be a v1.5 as well.

im thinin 1.5
but try the test

Oh great! As long as it is not a 1.6, I'm good! Thanks everybody for your help!
