Laser problem or what?

Hi all,

I have a scph 30003R ps2, a usb neokey s-box chip + a pnp stealth no solder v5/v6 with AR2 v2.12.

I used to boot DVD-Rs successfully, but the past year i was loading only CD-R using my s-box neokey chip. Now that i wanted to boot a DVD-R, i cant!!!!

Did the usb neokey s-box have damaged the laser??
, as many people say?

Even if i can load an original DVD, I can watch a DVD-R movie and I can play CD-R >650MB. Any ideas?

USB mods screw up the laser very quickly which is probably what has happened. You should have removed it and just used the no solder and GS2.If it boots originals fairly ok then i would sell it and get a new PS2 with a No-Swap chip.

Neo-Key (usb mod) is a first generation modchip. It didnt have the ability to boot ps2 dvdr backups. It could only boot cdr based backups.

You dont need a modchip to boot dvdr backups of movies.

The addition of your PNP no solder chip could allow you to boot dvdr backups with the assitance of a certain version of Gameshark or AR.

So, the Neokey Sbox did damage the laser. I managed to boot once a DVD backup game yesterday, but when i tryed again nothing happened. Thanks

Sad thing is you didnt need the USB mod. The no-solder and AR2 will load backups, CD and DVD, without damaging the laser. You should have removed it and trashed it.

Yeah booting the dvdr wasnt helped in any way by the Neokey. That was doing of the no solder chip and AR.

I think the only advantage of the NeoKey and NoSolder chip combo was being able to boot dvd-rips larger than 650mb in size.
