Propeller Arena

i found it on the internet for download in cdi selfboot format, released by bellok.
has anyone burned it already? i wonder if it's complete or have save implemented, what's keeping me away of halflife...

Eiji 10-05-2004 08:53

It has a save feature and is the FINAL/GOLD version.

So whats lurking around on groups is not hoax..?

Hm very interesting, I'm not surprised its the final gold version as the only reason this game is canned was sept 11.

No, its the official release by Belokk, DCP, Megalexx, ServiceGames (BDMS) thats on the newsgroups.

roBx^ 11-05-2004 05:40

Good, well I burned it and tested it on my m8's DC. It goes to the SEGA screen (with the Megalex signature). Then the screen goes black and the DC is going to load a few seconds, suddenly it stops and a few seconds later it goes back to the DC Bios... anyone?

btw. Before burning I used PAL patcher and patched the 50 hz code away, does this have anything to do with it?

sucubus 11-05-2004 09:00

I was reading the nfo.
belokk or Megalexx, can you tell us what kind of protection did you find on PA?

I am curious...

Da1m0n 11-05-2004 09:38

roBX: I could be wrong but I don't think you ever needed to patch the game in the first place (I'm pretty sure that's why it doesn't work now, btw)... From what I heard it works on both PAL and NTSC consoles.
Regarding the protection, I heard it's much the same as Confidential Mission, with the added twist that one of the hex codes you usually search for (a long word, or 4 bytes) turned out to be split into two words of 2 bytes each, with another 2 bytes separating them. Megalexx was the one who discovered that little nasty and got PA to finally boot. :D

roBx^ 11-05-2004 09:49

It was a 50hz code so i thought lets patch it because i am allergic to 50hz display. Anywayz no problemo I still got the rars on the PC and i'll burn it w/o patching this time, then I can see if it works tomorrow soon enough.

Megalexxx 11-05-2004 10:25

Don't patch that 50/60 Hz code !
It's a country check, and it's needed.

I've let the 50/60 Hz selector at boot time.

Da1m0n 11-05-2004 20:59

say, Megalexx, you have another 1ST_READ.BIN for PA that's pre-hacked for a much higher LBA than 11702, right? Could you toss me this one? I want to make a properly dummied image :) It turns out that Belokk made a mistake with the bdms-pa release, it's dummied but the dummy is at the end of the image where it's useless. And I wanna go all the way and use the audio track for dummying instead of adding a big file. :)
(When I do that, will I also have to binhack all of the other bins inside the DP3, etc. folders again?)

MasterMan 11-05-2004 21:29

i saw another 1st_read.bin in the CD:\TOOL folder, what is it?

roBx^ 12-05-2004 05:14

Wow this is some leet release, its clear that this one was ready for retail. And this wouldn't be a bad buy it it were.

But this seems like a PAL release, since it has a 50/60 selector (or is this built in?). What seems to be funny to me is that it supports SEGANET instead of Dreamarena.. while Seganet is only used in the US....?

Would be a blast online tho.

sucubus 12-05-2004 06:33

I was also wondering what that \TOOL folder is.

When you quit the Browser it returns to the BIOS menu, not to the game. I think this happens because the game is LBA 45000 and the browser 11700?

yup, if you add a larger audio track in the 1st session, the lba will be different for the 2nd session. then you have to binhack the bootbins to that lba.

Da1m0n 12-05-2004 17:47

I know that... The IP.BIN and 1ST_READ.BIN are obvious... What I wasn't sure about were the other bins... the browser stuff, that mysterious 1st_read.bin inside the TOOL folder, etc... :P
