Well I would stop spending so much cash on those 8x discs and use that money to update my writing software.

You can also get the hacked firmware that allows you to burn 4x Ritek media at 8x thus saving you even more cash to buy those updated writing programs.

thing is it's the latest version of nero and alcohol and they both show 4 speed write only, any ideas on that firmware.!

I dont use Nero. My favorite is RecordNow Max or DX.

What do you mean "any ideas on that firmware."?

having 8x speed discs doesn't automatically mean you can burn them at 8x. they need to be compatible with your burner. media compatibility is regularly increased with firmware updates.

could you post the MID (media id code) of the discs you have? programmes like dvdinfopro can retrieve the MID.

I've heard although the hacked version of this firmware allows u to burn ritek 4x at 8x. but once you update to that firmware, you cannot change/update the firmware again.

Not true. You can go back to old firmware and upgrade to new ones.

Hi, i did the firmware upgrade from 1.05 tot 1.18 and it said succesfull...
Then i restarted the pc and after same patience it seems my pc boots up...

When i start my pc, a 'Intel Inside Pentium 4' screen comes up as first. Normally it takes like some seconds to go to the windows xp loadscreen, but now it takes around 2-3 minutes to come to that screen.

I booted up and deleted all the content of the IDE controller... I rebooted and again it takes around 2-3 minutes to come to the windows xp loadscreen...

Can someone help me to resolve this problem?
What else can i do or try?

It was a Medion DVR-107d...

Thank you very much dudes...

Not sure if this will help your problem but I once had a problem with a very slow or long startup time after doing a format! Now to fix it all I did was used msconfig and disabled everything in the startup Tab and also disabled everything in the Services Tab! In the Services Tab I firstly checked the box 'hide all microsoft services', then disabled what was left!
Then restart system, then open msconfig again and now re-enabled everything again! Then Restart system again! This somehow worked for me and bought my startup back to seconds not minutes! Really hopes this helps. ;)

You can go back to the origianl firmware. Just use the "DVRFlash" and don't use the orig "pioneer flash update" soft.
