Drivers or Directx?

The only problem I have had with Battlefield 1942 was with the Directx 9b. The game worked but it lagged alout. But with Directx 9 it was perfect. But I have an ATI video card.....

So you could try with other Drivers and different Directx....

hope it helps

Im running a laptop with close to the same specs as your computer, only that my ATI card is only 64 mb. However, I was having a similar problem as you but with Battlefield Vietnam. It ran fine for a while, but then it would just lock up completely after a few minutes. I simply cut down the graphics a little and that made it run smooth again in multiplayer. It may just be my video card couldnt handle it, but i think it had something to do with the drivers. I have also found the Omega drivers work much better with battlefield 1942 and Vietnam than the updated ATI drivers. Lastly, I'd also suggest calling EA, their Customer Service is very responsive with these issues.
