WTF is going on with my PS2

Hi, when I power up, the picture is REALLY jumpy and the textures flicker. Had the top off and inspected the laser to check no dust is there, and looked at the SCART lead, but it appears to be fine and checked connections too. It also does it on the Browser screen on power with and without my Network Adapter attached? What could be wrong with my PS2? Thanks a lot...

Tried it in AV1 and seems to work fine. Gonna try AV2 now...

lufcfan 14-04-2004 04:23

Damn, started doing it on AV1 no

So, as before, any ideas at all???

I already have, it still doesn't work :(

OK, fingers crossed it's fixed now. I had a CAT 5e cable to network my PS2 and PC. The PS2 was on all morning and I went to lay the CAT 5e cable around the edge of the room as it was strewn across it (and it couldn't stay there could it ;) ). But, it wouldn't reach, so I moved the console, but had to move it back as loads of other cables now couldn't reach, and when I reconnected and powered up, this happens. Went to town for a few hours, just powered up now and it seems to be OK. :)

Must have just been some static charge on a component somewhere, from moving it about so much. Anyway, fingers crossed, it should be OK from now. If not I'll post back. Anyway, thanks for the advice Snake2. I really appreciate it... :)

This things going on eBay. It's still doing it. Any more ideas? I really NEED to get this working, but at the moment, I'm stuffed :(

There will be one more PS2 in the scrapyard in the sky soon, if I can't find a solution.

Hmm tried a different tv mate? if it keeps doing it then hmm maybe remove any modchip then see!??

If it continues to do it well, either the av plugs are faulty on your ps2 or the ps2 has suffered damage to its video chip.

Also post a image of what it does so we know how bad it is,.

It's Video Chip. I spoke to a PS2 repair bloke over the phone in Leeds, and apparently its Video Chip, so it's going for spares/repair.
