Best DVD Backup Software?

hello....first time poster...

ok...i just ordered a burner (Pioneer DVR 107) and was wondering what the best software to use is...i've noticed some common ones are: Nero, RecordNowMax, DVD Shrink, etc....just wondering which are better and what are advantages/disadvantages of each...thanks

my primary use will be backing up DVDs & ps2 games....any help?

for dvds i recommend anydvd+clonedvd2, but both are not free.

dont know exactly about ps2 games, but i think a nero disc-copy will do the trick.

I have an AO7 and I use RecordNow Max. I also use CloneDVD2 and Anydvd for movies.

I then flashed my drive with the hacked Firmware to disable the dvd movie speed limit. It also enables you to use the Ritek 4x media and burn it at 6-8x. So now Im burning full 4gig movies in under 16min on 87cent 4x blanks.

...will CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD work for backing up ps2 games as well?

No, they are for movies. Use RecordNow Max/Deluxe for ps2 games.

can clonedvd2 and anydvd backup dvd movies onto two blank DVD-Rs properly?

TylerDurden 16-04-2004 05:43

Again I ask why in the world would you wanna do that?

and again.. i say.. cause i wanna keep the picture quality?!?!?! you know when you shrink a DVD9 movie to one DVD5 disc.. you're compressing sometimes more than 30% of the movie.. and please don't tell me you can't notice the difference?!?!

TylerDurden 16-04-2004 16:22

Keep being a smartass with me and see where it gets you.

30% is nothing on most tv sets. If you have a high definition tv then splitting is a good idea. Or you can just re'encode just the movie and only get a very small amount of compression.

btw CubFan2004.. i personally use DVDFab or DVD X Copy Platinum to backup DVD movies.. although i've had recent problems with DVD X Copy.. these programs split the dual layer movies onto two discs to keep the picture quality.. don't know what tylerdurden is talking about when he asks me why i would want to do that? not too sure how this can be done with CloneDVD2 with AnyDVD..

i don't have a PS2.. just an x-box.. so i can't help you there.. but i've had a friend simply use Nero straight Disc Copy to copy PS2 games.. he says they work nicely.. it's a lost easier to backup PS2 games compared to X-Box games..

TylerDurden 16-04-2004 16:23

What Im talking about is why waste 2 dvdr if you really dont need to.

can you personally tell the difference when you compress a movie to around say.. 80%? i can tell you personally that i can.. and it bothers me.. and you know.. it's 87c (it's a $1.30 down here in Aus) for a blank Ritek right? don't think you're wasting that much there.. just maybe an extra 10-16 minutes..

TylerDurden 16-04-2004 16:31

I seriously doubt you can tell the difference in any of my backups. I know none of my friends have ever complained when I show a movie at my house.
