Border Down - 60 Hz Fullscreen SELFBOOT

Yep, I did it. :)

It's really long to explain how, and it's a pain in the a** to make it, so I would like to release the file.

You can find 1st_read.bin here :
http://members.lycos.co.uk/megalexxx/Patches/

the file is Alx-bdwn.zip

Follow echelon tutorial to make a selfboot game.
The LBA I used is 11702.

nice work..!!

i got it to boot from 11702 before, but only from a web browser.
never from a selfboot stand-alone. never tried it.

so did this have some kind of protection or what??

Isamu_Dyson 05-04-2004 14:05

i would like to know how you cracked it, too. maybe it can help me boot a few games that give me trouble. mainly SSF2X and Planetweb 2.62.

thx.

Da1m0n 07-04-2004 14:12

I've GOT to know how you did that, Megalexx! WOW!!

Bit crushed of course, since this means my browser-based (non-Ikaruga) selfboot is all for nothing now :P though it does truly autostart with no menu you have to click on first... but wow! You actually cracked the beast!

I didn't even know you had the tools/experience to crack stuff like that... You think you can get my Sega Rally 2 + cdda rip to play the CDDA? Since it's a WinCE game I just ain't able to do it as there is no documentation and no help whatsoever to be found anywhere online. Whaddya think? You'd truly be my personal hero ;)

border down + ikaruga (compil)(50hz) to border down selfboot 60hz

Hi everyone, I have a DC PAL System.
I'd like to make border down in 60hz mode

i've extracted the files from the "border" directory from the border down + ikaruga (compil net browser) ,and I've put it in c:\data directory

I've read MEGALEXXX Post where he suggests this:
"You can find 1st_read.bin here :http://members.lycos.co.uk/megalexxx/Patches/
the file is Alx-bdwn.zip"
I've downloaded this file, I've extracted 1st_read.bin, and I've put it in c:\data directory

cdrecord -dev=0,1,0 -msinfo give me out 0,11702
and MegaleXXX on his post suggest:"The LBA I used is 11702" ->ok

i binhack
i mkisofs
i ipin

i wrote, but my console reset after BORDER DOWN's NOW LOADING screen and DC return to CONSOLE MENU

WHAT'S WRONG ? protection ? help me please

Take the cd image, patch it with megalexx pal patcher, using 50>60Hz code, pal protection 1 and 2. Now, you can burn borden down + ikaruga 60Hz
Greets

Just wondering where Alx-bdwn.zip went? It's no longer available.

Drama! 22-07-2004 09:07

yeah, it isnīt there

Megalexxx 22-07-2004 10:12

I needed space.

You should have taken it when it was available.

For those who missed it:

Go there and you can download alx-bdwn.zip :D
I've used the 1ST_READ.BIN to build the selfboot disc using Echelon's tutorial and it worked flawlessly.

greetz!

pd: kudos to megalexx for this fix! :)

Voltron 29-08-2004 23:07

I used Echelonīs selfboot method and it worked I couldnīt believe it since it was the first time that I used this method, anyway the game selfbooted alright but in 50Hz!!!!! Argh oh well..
