Rewiring GCN to work as a mini-DVD Drive
 

Hey, does anyone know of a place that could tell me how to do this? I have heard that you could do this and it would enable you to copy games (Instead of going through the BBA/PSO).

Just incase you were wondering, i would like one w. screenshots but, could probably do it w. out them.

what exactly do you mean by this? take out the gamecube mini-dvd lens and using it as a mini dvd drive for your pc?

I have heard (which it may just have been a rumor) that you could open the GCN and rewire it (The WHOLE gamecube, not just the lens) and then, the computer would think the gamecube is a external DVD-ROM drive. Which would enable the PC to read the GCN disks.

nope, u cant do that. people even tried that with the xbox dvd drive. but there was a rumor where you flash one of your dvd drives firmwire so it could read gc discs.

Wouldn't that make it so your drive can't read DVD-/+R(W) disks as well as regular dvds? or is this just a rumor and it doesn't work in anyway?

--edit-- if the firmware deal works, is it cool if i ask were to get it?

dont know if it works, but it was before the PSO method and was probably fake. It was at the time where stupid people was releasing videos of them playing backup gamecube games on their gamecube.
