SCPH 50010 + Magic 50K = Black Screen

Oh No, here I go again with more 50K problems!!!

This is the first 50010 I’ve seen, It’s a V9 (GH-23) With Network Adaptor. Should be Magic 50K compatable right?

I always wondered why people had problems with VIA’s, this is the first board I’ve seen with laminated VIA’s. No big problem though, I got it done. Turn on the PS2 with a backup and it goes to black screen, no logo. The chip will boot a PS1 when I hold eject, and it will boot originals WHEN disabled by holding eject.

After checking everything over and changing my ‘R’ wire, same thing. I then completely remove chip and install a new 50K, new wire, new location, exact same problem!!!!

I give up! I’m done with 50K’s!! It’s not worth the trouble! Sony, your new machines are rotting on the shelves while the XBOX shelves are empty !!!!

I have a couple Magic 50K’s left, wonder if I can get my money back?

Don’t give up on it yet ihaveanosebleed. If it’s booting originals and PSX back-ups it sounds like and install issue. Check everything over again very carefully. Check the ribbon cables, especially the reset/eject cable. I had an issue like this and over looked the ribbon cable on the V9's now that it’s in the DVD-rom it’s easy to forget about.

i'm new at the ps2 mod thing but i did mine and the first time i tried to start it i got the black screen my self.
did ya check over all the connections with a mag glass?
mine was not soldered on well enough on one of the chip legs.
i went back in rechecked all my wires redid the ones that even looked funny and started it up again and it was fine.
