Lets see everyones modchip installs !!!
You might have seen a thread like this in a few other console forums, so i thought it would be nice to start one here. This is where you post your installations for everyone to see, comment and learn from !

I like this idea, too bad this forum doesnt support larger files to be uploaded. :(

yea sucks spedmetal, but you have a website so just host the pics off your website. Ayway heres another pic VERSION 4 DUO CHIP
|
Oh all right, but in a few day, weeks, or months when I change the link or whatever there wont be anything to click on, oh well.
V10 DMS3 V9 Magic V 50K Oh btw if you want to see all my installs you can just jump on over to my site :D, well not all but the ones I have posted any ways.....plug :D |
Why dont you use the Pins instead of the vias ?
|
Why? Just cuz, no real reason, I have done both, its a little quicker for me to do the via's and I actually think you get a stronger bond to the vias. Just personal preference I guess.

Both ways are about the same level of difficulty, the chip legs take more time to master though.

kool
i gotta get some practice buy some broken or sencond hand ps2 and mod em :) |
Spedmetal once you get the hang of soldering to the CDX pins it gets real easy.. i used to struggle with it , now i just angle my eyes so im looking sideways at the pins.. wires go on easy... a bit of a pain in the pass to have to scrap the vias. But i havent noticed any difference in modchip performance wether you solder ot vias or pins.

Saw how popular this was on Newz and ownz hey Netmech?? :D
Unless Z has killed the thread it was the best non-sticky he had going... shame to provide him with such a useful thread - to bad one can't kill a thread one started after 14 days on ownz! ;) By the way the vias are so much quicker than the legs on a couple of conditions: 1) - that the vias are not overly covered in conformal coating - some times you get station that are so thickly covered that it takes to long to scrape - these I use the chip legs for, some stations how ever almost have the copper 100% exposed, on these I use the vias... 2) Obviously you need to be able to solder to vias - but typically if you can't solder to vias well then you also probably could not solder to the chip legs safely... See here for some install examples of my own - mine are going more for reliability and short wire lengths than to win awards for being pretty... but that does not mean I don't admire the work of others like Kiezer Sozei  http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/wired.htm |
