without a chip, yes. Without modifying the xbox, no. You bridge 2 points together and flash the onboard bios. You also have to put a switch on the bios chip in order to use xbox live. you need 007/mechassult and you also need an action replay (or mega-x-key) or another modded xbox and a normal xbox memcard. You need to get a hacked gamesave on your xbox.

there is no wire that you can cut to have the xbox work with backups. you need to do a modification, one way or another.

what does 'flashing the bios' do

Headly 21-03-2004 06:18

Flashing the onboard bios, commonly known as the TSOP, will do essentially the same thing as a modchip.

If you are really interested spend a couple weeks reading the tutorials and forums over at www.xbox-scene.com

For now stick with a modchip. It offers greater range of functionality(multiple bios, enable, disable...) and is much less likely to fry your xbox.

ive got a cheapermod installed and it may need flashing (i thought the mod was dead but then i heard that flashing it may solve the prob) can ne1 link to a guide on how to do this
