Finding a Xbox w. a Samsung
 

Hey, I was in a local game shop the other day looking to purchase another Xbox, but, I wanted to get one w. a Samsung Drive (so it can read +-RW as well as CD-Rs) but, the guy @ the shop said that they cant turn on the Xbox in the store so, he told me that you can look @ the serial # and that will tell you what drive is in it.

So, my question is:
How do I tell if it has a samsung in it?

If you can find an xbox with a 6 at the end of the serial # you should get a samsung dvd player!! I know I did when my tomson broke down!!

I actually got lucky, and got one with a samsung, ... out of a random pick.

Samsung SD-616T, is the best drive for the xbox :)

The standard one is the Samsung SDG-605

I have read (but is not bullet proof) that the plant # which is the last digit in the serial #. That mostly every xbox that has come from this plant has the samsung in it! Mostly. I tried it and BINGO got one. Costco has alot of these.I think this is a newer plant because most prior to this were either form 1 to 5 at the end...

Just for kicks, I bought another xbox to mod, ... Got another Samsung =)
