Burn Speeds

Hi all
just bought a n Nec 2500, wanted a slight increase in speed from my Pioneer ao6..........

My question is, using Clone dvd it takes me about 30 mins to BURN a dvd, selecting the diff speed options in Clone does not make any diff,? am i right in thinking that the drives determain the speed of the burn depending on the quaility of the disc?

thanks

clone will know the max disc speed that the disc can handle.......i'v seen some disc's that say they are 4x write and don't show up as that, just burn @ the speed the prog suggests for the disc.

Alternatively you could try Alcohol 120%, or Record now Max for fast speed recording, I suggest making an image of your project with the particular software mentioned before burning.

Hi
Thanks for the info, the only trouble is Clone Dvd will not auto select ie you select the write speed x2 x4 x8 etc, are you saying it makes no diff what you set the write to, Clone will always do it automaticly ?

The software may or may not automatically adjust to correct speed, however ultimately it's the drive's firmware that decides what speed to write at.
If you buy a 2x disk then your drive will only write to it at maximum of 2x - you can get hacked versions of the firmware to write at higher speeds but it isn't recommened as the disks have a speed rating for a reason. You will likely encounter errors if you try this.
If you want to write at higher speed then buy some 4x disks
