audio probs on silver 50003+DMS3
 

ive had a dms3 chip fitted but theres a strange buzzing sound that sometimes appears a few minutes in to playing a backup game but then other times the game audio can dissapear completely but returns if you leave the game running. Can this be caused by placement of the chip on the board or wiring?

The DMS3 is very touchy. Probably has some wires crossed that shouldn't be.

Thanks bighap will need to have a look at that. have also noticed this buzzing appear when playing divx movies

Definitely a wiring prob i had the same thing happen to me when i installed my dms3 i rewired it making sure no wires crossed or were too close to chips/components;)

not sure if i should take it back to the shop for them to have a look or have a look myself. could it be causing some games to freeze aswell

yep. Sounds like some wires are either crossed or too close to components on mobo.

decided to have a look myself but opened the case but cant figure out how to get to the board. followed a guide i found but im guessing there is a specific guide for the silver v10. can anyone point me in the right direction.

Does this problem exist with a Magic V or Messiah 2 chip?

ive heard alot of bad things about the dms 3 as its touchy with the wires and so on. I would prefer a ripper 2

This problem usually happens when the click wire from the DMS3 V9, or M2 aren’t run in a good manor. The click wire is actually a frequency that the chip uses to perform its operations. The DMS3 V9 and the M2 pull this frequency right off the PS2's mobo so if the wire isn’t ran correctly, such as being to close to other components or IC's on the PS2's mobo the frequency can bleed out to these other devises thus picking up that good awful hit pitch squealing noise. This can also he remedied by wrapping the click wire with another wire that is grounded at both ends, but if it is ran correctly the first time this is not needed.

The Magic V scores anther point here because it gets its frequency from an onboard oscillator thus not needing to pull the frequency from the PS2's mobo and dragging it across the mobo. The Apple Pro also has its own on board oscillator.

DMS3. ive managed to find my way in to the mainboard now but not really sure wot to look for. are there pics of any wired examples of a DMS3 + 50003 that i can use

has any body else heard about this im just wondering how good it works beign only a 8 wire install i might be able to do that :D
