Final Fantasy X-2 freezes?
I've got a PS 2 3004 modded with the Magic 3 chip, most games work alright on it, but for some reason FFX-2 keeps locking up. I had similar problems with Onimusha 1 and 2 already, which ocassionally froze during gameplay, but it wasn't a problem to play for some time.
I've already tried burning it with RecordNow MAX, according to the F.A.Q. of this board, and with Nero. The first copy only freezes before the boss fight for the 1st sphere, the second one works with that fight but sporadically freezes a few seconds to minutes after that scene. The DVD-Rs I use are the same as for the games which work fine. Since I sometimes have trouble with booting games, requiring 1-4 attempts until the game is recognized correctly, I was wondering whether the problem might be due to a dirty laser lens, on the other hand a lot of games work? |
by chance what r the name of the dvd-rs u r useing ?
|
they're from a local retailer comparable to US Walmart, so mentioning the name probably won't help. The DVD-Rs got good ratings here though and most of my games work well with them, but if there's a chance to fix the issue with FFX-2 in switchin' the media I'll give it a try. If I remember it right Ritek G03 are recommended for PS2 use, are there any else?
|
Yes, Ritek G04 dyes are about the best I've found so far

or better yet, get some taiyo yuden. they dont sell discs under their names though. TDK and other companies usually but their discs and put their names on it. look for "made in japan" and you can be sure that u will be getting TY or maxell (which is also very good).
i have burnt a backup of FFX-2 and i have played it through 1.5 times now without any hiccups on my version 4. now thats telling ya that its good media. i even burnt it at 4x ! |
Final Fantasy X2 Freezes
Yes I have the same mod Magic 3 and I have tried all
different Media like Shintaro & Verbatim, Yes its not the media or the PS2 Laser, I think there are extra Mod checks in the software. |
Ritek G03/04 is the best. My V4R loves them and they are super quiet, and don't stress the laser in any way. We need to look after our V4's now, LOL! :D
