Hello
i have few questions about PS2
what is the difference between NTSC and PAL ?
if i have a ntsc ps2 can i play pal games ?
what does a patch for ps2 games ? to bypass a game protection when you make a backup ?
Also I would like to buy a ps2 and i was wondering which version is the most convenient to install modchip in order to play backup games ?

Here . You can either patch a game to make it compatible with your setup or buy a converter like the site above mentions.

It would be great if you can find a v7, but basically all you will find is the v9/v10 nowadays.

Juts a small tip - anyone in the Yorkshire area of the UK, WHSmith in Halifax has a few V7's left. Won't apply to many if anyone, but there are still some out there...

Correct and yes the Messiah 2 is fine.

If you install a messiah 2 you wont need to patch to play imports.

so with messiah 2 i can play pal games with no problem ?

Exactly

You will be able to play PAL games yes but they may not display correctly on your NTSC setup. Thus needing a PAL to NTSC patch or the likes.

Yes. If you have a choice go with a v10.
