You need to use a BIOS such as X2 4981.67 to be able to use drives over 137GB.

also for the fact that somethin else is true
now, if u se the 4981.06, u can have an hdd up to size 256 GB on the f drive alone, the g drive is not even needed

All i have is a unmodded 1.0 Xbox. All though that is soon to change. I am thinking about getting a 200 or a 250 gb hd. I have heard that Maxtor drives are best for "locking" so that u can play on live. But, i am a noob and so, one question, if i lock the hd can i still load games on to the hdd?

yea u can load games on a locked hdd
no u cant play backups with xbox live
yes u can with xbconnect
i suggest 250 just cuz its the max u can have with one partition

Is this the x-bit chip that you are talking about in your sig? I am just curious. Once i get the money i am getting a 250 gig hd as well as a solder-less modchip (I have a friend that can install them for me) and so I thought this x-bit chip's specs looked good.
