Working copy of Sacred?

Hi there,

I just bought Sacred, even though it's release date in Germany is tomorrow...great stuff :)

I used the 3 protection scanners I know of, and this is what they showed up (for both CD's):

A-Ray 0.0.0.4: Securom
ClonyXXL 2.0.1.5: ProtectCD v0.3
Protection ID v5.0: VOB Protect CD

Well, on the second CD is a file named "vob-pcd.key"...Protection ID told the truth, right?

Is there a way to make a working copy? I don't have any experience with this kind of protection.
As far as I know, the CD is checked only once when you start up the game, and can be removed then.

ATM, I'm trying to get an image of CD2 using Alcohol 120% ... maybe it works.

Edit: Mounted image in Alcohol doesn't work

Well it smells like vob-starforce 3. And you can't backup that one. And don't NEVERMIND!. Crack team might crack it, but it CAN NEVERMIND!

:D

A crack is out. don't know by how, don't when it comes to GCW, but it excist!

Yeah, Starforce3! Boy do I like this CD protection.

:-(

"If you can't fight, wear a big hat"

PLay from the original. Funny things start happening online if you play from a backup.

Lord Exodus 26-02-2004 14:18

Yeah, I'll play it from the originial CD...until a crack is out!
This crappy protection isn't the fastest, I have to wait around 45 seconds until the CD check is completed.
At least you can remove the CD after the game has loaded. Good for me, sometimes the noise of my drive spinning the disc is really annoying.

By the way, why do all of you think it's Star Force?
Won't Star Force need some kind of key entered after running it the first time? "Singles-Flirt up your life!" worked this way...didn't try another Star Force protected game.

I'm not a Starforce expert, but several current games seem to implement it in different ways. It seems to be much more dynamic than many other CD protections.

The word "customization" comes to my mind...no new thingie, just new features...

Sacred is VOB Protect CD and NO Starforce !!!
a look inside the exe made it clear itīs VOB only.

- VOB string
- VOB devleoper tagged the file with his name,
- version info starting at offset 2000h
- scrambled. so itīs not v0.3, itīs v5.xx
- run the exe -> go into temp dir -> u see a002.tmp -> VOB core
- vob keyfile on cd2 (will be importet to registry without userinput)

hey u cannot get more signs to see if itīs VOB or not.

btw, i got the final retail from Marktkauf ;)
i dunno if there are different versions out but i donīt think so.

GLH 27-02-2004 13:26

My version is also VOB Protect.

I think it's like X2 - The Thread / Die Bedrohung.
US Version was Securom5, german version was Starforce3.
